Tamara Frączek is the winner of the LVII competition for the best thesis in the field of probability theory and applications of mathematics

Our graduate, a student of the Doctoral College of Mathematics, Tamara Frączek has won the first prize in the LVII national competition of the Polish Mathematical Society for the best thesis in the field of probability theory and applications of mathematics.

Ms. Tamara's master's thesis Branching-selection particle system with semiexponential increments written under the supervision of Dr. Piotr Dyszewski (Institute of Physics of the University of Wrocław) focused on the dynamics of systems of moving particles that undergo division and selection. Such models are used by physicists to model front propagation. In her thesis, Ms. Tamara described the speed of propagation of such a system of particles.

In the same competition, a distinction was awarded to our graduate Michał Dąbrowski for his master's thesis Statistical Arbitrage in Polish Equities Market using deep learning techniques written under the supervision of Dr. Marek Adamczyk (II UWr). Mr. Michał examined the statistical arbitrage technique of pair trading, in which instead of being based on two strongly correlated assets, the second of them is replaced by a one constructed from the so-called "Pairs Arbitrage". "risk factors" replication of the former.

The bachelor's thesis of Ms. Martyna Wereta Periodic Oscillations in Electrical Systems written under the supervision of Prof. Dr. hab. Grzegorz Karcha (IM UWr). In her thesis, Ms. Martyna made a mathematical and numerical analysis of several models from the theory of electric circuits showing periodic oscillations.
